Synopsis:

Seventeen year-old Danae Blackburn has never known love. After being fostered out at two, the family that chose her gradually reduced her to brokenness and a life of fear. For a long time there is only one thing she can turn to - the piano, at which she is amazingly gifted.Torn between a dysfunctional past and a promising future, Danae struggles against everything that threatens her identity - the love of a friend, the challenge of a competition, the possibility of change. At first, the only thing that helps to weaken her defenses is the beauty in music ...

Here are my thoughts:

There are stories  that should be told not just for their dramatic perspective but for their hopeful ending. Trudy Adams tells us such a story in her latest novel Broken Melody, knowing the whole spectrum of emotions hurt teenagers (and adults) hold in themselves, never knowing there is Someone out there who loves them!

Truth be told, Danae has every reason to mistrust others, she has been told often enough she is nothing, a failure and she believes it with her whole heart. Abandoned by her mother, she falls into a system that fails to recognize the cruel abuse she and her foster siblings are enduring.

When given the possibility of an outlet in Music, she reaches out tentatively, holding back for fear it will be snatched away!

Thanks to her amazing gift for music however, Danae sees a whole new world emerging on the horizon but fitting in is not so easy. Concerned friends stand by her, showing her she is loved, supporting her as life continues to crumble around her.

But she has erected a wall around herself for fear of rejection, feeling unwanted and unworthy.

Finally, unwilling to remain a victim, with faith and courage, God's help and a mysterious piano key, she faces the future surrounded by those who care about her!

Note: Recommended for mature teens and older!

A story that should be told! 5 Stars!!
